Silvia Gold participated in Power the Partnership: End the Neglect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our president, and founder of <strong>Grupo Insud<\/strong>, was the only representative of Latin America in this global online event organized by <strong>Uniting to Combat NTDs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Power the Partnership: End the Neglect<\/strong> welcomed the progress made since the London Declaration in the objectives set regarding <strong>neglected tropical diseases<\/strong> (NTDs), and its contribution to promoting advances in relation to other diseases, in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3).<\/p>\n<p>Power the Partnership: End de Neglect is a call to action to put an end to these preventable diseases that affect more than 1,600 million people in the world, and that are the consequence and cause of poverty, since they thrive at sites with limited access to clean water, sanitation and health care.<\/p>\n<p>During her presentation, <strong>Dr Gold<\/strong> referred to the advances made by <strong>Mundo Sano<\/strong> in its work with endemic diseases; in addition, she stressed that <em>\u201cLatin America is the region of great inequalities; Argentina does not differ from other parts of the world in terms of people suffering\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the pandemic we are undergoing, <strong>Silvia Gold<\/strong> stated: <em>\u201cWe need to understand COVID-19 as another disease and think of universal health coverage, with a more transversal approach in order to control these diseases.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MundoSano\/status\/1276108990506840064\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/MundoSano\/status\/1276108990506840064<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Silvia Gold<\/strong> is a member of the <em>Board of Uniting to Combat NTDs<\/em>, international coalition that was created after the London Declaration (2012), to join forces and support the achievements made with respect to 10 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), in line with the goals established by the World Health Organization (WHO).<\/p>\n<p>Uniting to Combat NTDs is composed of Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi), Lions Clubs International Foundation, The World Bank, governments of Great Britain and United States (through their agencies, UKAID and USAID, respectively),
