{"id":22189,"date":"2022-04-28T17:22:19","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T20:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mundosano-wordpress.server.brobert.net\/?p=22189"},"modified":"2022-04-29T17:26:57","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T20:26:57","slug":"mundo-sano-was-designated-technical-unit-of-the-ibero-american-initiative-to-eliminate-congenital-chagas-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mundosano-wordpress.server.brobert.net\/en\/mundo-sano-was-designated-technical-unit-of-the-ibero-american-initiative-to-eliminate-congenital-chagas-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"Mundo Sano was designated Technical Unit of the Ibero-American Initiative  to eliminate Congenital Chagas disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The initiative \u201c<strong>Not a single baby with Chagas disease<\/strong>: the path towards new<br \/>\ngenerations free of Chagas disease\u201d was approved by the Heads of States and<br \/>\nGovernment of Ibero-American countries at the \u201cXXVII Ibero-American summit\u201d,<br \/>\nheld in Andorra.<\/li>\n<li>The countries will work together to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of<br \/>\nChagas disease<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Buenos Aires, March 2022.- <strong>Mundo Sano Foundation<\/strong> welcomes its designation as<br \/>\nTechnical Unit of the initiative <strong>&#8220;Not a single baby with Chagas disease: the path towards<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>new generations free of Chagas disease&#8221;<\/strong>, which aims at contributing to the elimination of<br \/>\nmother-to-child transmission of the disease from a multidimensional approach,<br \/>\nconsidering the strategies for the control and prevention of other transmission routes.<\/p>\n<p>The main objectives include the strengthening of health systems in terms of prevention,<br \/>\nearly diagnosis, treatment and monitoring on <strong>Chagas disease<\/strong>, with emphasis on women of<br \/>\nchildbearing age, pregnant women and newborns.<\/p>\n<p>At present, the initiative has four full members (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Spain) and<br \/>\nfour guest members (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Paraguay). The presidency of<br \/>\nthe initiative is held by Brazil, and the <strong>Technical Unit, by Mundo Sano Foundation<\/strong>, an<br \/>\norganization that, along with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and ISGlobal, has<br \/>\nprovided technical support during the entire formulation process.<\/p>\n<p>This renewed commitment of Ibero-American countries to international health<br \/>\ncooperation, and specifically to people affected with Chagas disease, is very encouraging.<br \/>\n<em>\u201cThis is an important step forward because it contributes to the visibility of this disease<\/em><br \/>\n<em>and its inclusion on the global agenda; in addition, it complements the efforts being made<\/em><br \/>\n<em>in this sense by the WHO and the PAHO, along with other key stakeholders\u201d<\/em>, stated Dr<br \/>\nSilvia Gold, President of Mundo Sano Foundation. \u201cWe are in the last decade of the 2030<br \/>\nAgenda; it is necessary to redouble efforts in the area
